Multi-instrumentalist and Grammy winner Daniel Ho has released “Polani” another impressive solo ‘ukulele CD. Virtually all the tracks are original pieces and, according to the liner notes, are built around half step and unison intervals as well as ostinatos and extended chords. All songs are played fingerstyle (on a low G-tuned uke) to articulate the melody, harmony and bass parts independently. Mostly it’s just a very beautiful, serene recording. At the same time, Daniel has released an accompanying songbook with all of the arrangements in uke tablature and notation. This will especially appeal to fans of the John King ukulele classical book/CD. Book and CD: $24.95.
